10/4/2018 - Machinery Fire - Mutual Aid

1042018 7

10-4-18; around 0730 hours, CWJFD was requested mutual aid to a neighboring department for a machinery fire with an industrial HVAC system involved at a large lumber yard. A tanker response was requested, T-66 and T-65 responded. Upon arrival, units on scene advised our tankers to supply water to a tower ladder already on scene. T-66 and T-65 arrived on scene just as the fire was contained, units on T-66 and T-65 assisted in putting out “hot spots” as well as cleanup for the host department. No injuries were reported and property damage was minimal, one large industrial wood planer was lost in the fire. These fires can be very tricky due to the possibility of a dust explosion, thankfully that did not happen!
